She won an Oscar in 1960 for her role in Two Women, becoming the first actor to win an Academy Award for a non-English-speaking performance. She owned an apartment in New York City and suffered from stage fright, thereby, never appeared in a theatrical production. She turned down starring roles in the TV series ‘Dynasty’ and ‘Falcon Crest’ to devote more time to raising her family.
