The theme for Met Gala 2014 was “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” – a celebration of the designer known for big, structured dresses. The attire was White Tie. White Tie is the opposite of black tie event and a step up from black tie, it means men should, according to the rules, wear tails and a white bow tie, and women wear floor-length gowns. On the other hand, black Tie means men wears tuxes and women wear formal gowns. Traditionally, formal meant floor-length. But more and more, women can get away with cocktail dresses at Black Tie events – fancy cocktail dresses, but cocktail dresses nonetheless.
Here are some of the best dressed of the fashion pack.
We love the black & white ensembles below. There’s a reason it’s a classic. From left we have: “Sex and the City’s” Sarah Jessica Parker, Hailee Steinfeld, “Mad Men’s” Jessica Pare, “Rosemary’s Baby” star Zoe Saldana and “Keeping Up With the Kardashian’s” Kim Kardashian.
Kendall Jenner in Topshop gown (that’s right, it’s not even by a major designer) and she made it look so incredibly stunning and dramatic. Plus, she nailed the styling, working full blown-back hair and a diamond Chopard necklace.
